Great question! The quick answer is that God LOVES you more than you could ever know! He loves you even a billion times more than your parents do, and your parents love you very much!
Hebrews 12 describes God as a loving Father treating believers as His sons and daughters! This is a great blessing to have such a perfect Father that loves us so deeply! Hebrews 12:5-6 teaches that God will discipline those He loves. Sometimes being disciplined isn’t fun, but God does it for our good to help us to be more like Jesus and to help us serve Him well!
So then, do we have to be good for God to love us? NO! God’s love for us is unconditional. That means that no matter what you have done in the past, God still loves you! Need proof? The Bible teaches in Romans 5:8 that ‘…God shows His love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.’ Jesus knew we would do bad things (sin) and He still chose to die for us on the cross to save us! Wow! What an amazing love that Jesus would die for us when we do not deserve it!
Let’s take a look at John 3:16 which speaks so beautifully about how much God loves us- “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.” Wow! If you believe in Jesus you are not only loved by God, but you are also forgiven of all your sins, and saved forever! Now that is an awesome love!
IMPORTANT- While God will love you no matter what, you have to believe in Jesus as your Lord (boss of your life) and Savior to be forgiven of your sins and tand o have a relationship with God. John 3:18 teaches us that those who reject Jesus are still condemned (found guilty and punished) for their sins. I ask all who read this to recognize how much Jesus loves you! I also ask you to pray about and talk to a parent or pastor about how you can begin to or continue to live fully for God.
If you have any questions about how to put your faith in Jesus you can ask me, your parents, your pastor, or your sunday school teachers, but here are some steps you can take. Pray to God and follow your ABCs:
A- Admit to God that you are a sinner and repent (turn away) from sinning (Mark 1:15). Note- You will not be perfect but your heart must desire to obey God and you should pray for forgiveness when you sin.
B- Believe that Jesus died on the cross for your sins and rose again! Ask Jesus to be your Savior and Lord (boss) of your life. (John 3:16)
C- Confess to the whole world that you love Jesus and believe in Him as your Lord and Savior. An important way that God calls us to confess our faith in Jesus is to be baptized (Matthew 28:19).
Thank you for your great question, Elijah! Please know God loves you very much and He always will.
